Keeping Your Restaurant Busy

As a restaurant owner, there aren't many things more challenging than keeping a steady stream of customers coming in through the front door. Unfortunately, these kinds of challenges can eventually arrest the cash flow of your business, which can cause all kinds of problems in the long run. About three months ago, I decided that it would be a good idea to start focusing more on my own restaurant so that I could improve things. I started small, by changing the way that our team handled a few things, and then eventually worked towards reworking the entire menu. This blog is all about making your restaurant more profitable.

Chicken Wing Ideas For Special Events

Blog

If you're planning a casual special event and are looking for tasty finger foods that party-goers can enjoy as they mix and mingle, consider adding chicken wings to your menu. Both spicy and savory, chicken wings can be served in a wide variety of ways to please everyone on your guest list.

You can serve chicken wings at any type of low-key special occasion, such as kids' or adults' birthday celebrations, bridal or baby showers, backyard barbecues, family or business holiday get-togethers, anniversary and graduation parties, and even wedding rehearsals and receptions. If you're having a more elegant soiree, serving the wings as an appetizer is a possibility as well.

Depending on your party-planning budget, you can either make the wings yourself in your own kitchen or have them catered from your favorite local bar or restaurant. If you decide to make them on your own, you can use an eatery's menu as wing recipe and serving inspiration. When hiring a restaurant to make the wings for you, you may be able to get a party platter discount, or they may include some side dishes, such as coleslaw or potato salad.

Whether you make the wings of have them catered, take your guests' dietary restrictions and preferences into consideration. For instance, make sure you have a few meat-free options available for the vegetarians in the group.

Here are some ideas for serving chicken wings at your next special event:

1. Chicken Wings and Vegetable Platter

Nothing goes better with hot wings than cool dips. Start by placing a variety of different types of chicken wings, ranging from mild to hot, on serving platters. Add a fresh touch with vegetables such as carrot and celery sticks, cauliflower, broccoli, and radishes.

In the centers of the platters, place bowls of dips, such as ranch and blue cheese dressings, barbecue sauce, chipotle mayo, and an Asian-inspired teriyaki glaze. Provide guests with small ramekins or plastic cups for holding their dips.

2. Buffalo Chicken Salad

Salads make ideal main courses on hot summer days, especially when a celebration is held outdoors. You can use either chicken tenders tossed in a chicken wing-style hot sauce or the meat off of actual wings to prepare the salads.

In a large bowl, toss salad ingredients, including lettuce, tomatoes, red onions, and shredded carrots. Guests can serve themselves their own salads and then top them with the sauce-coated chicken pieces. As a vegetarian option, you can provide grilled tempeh or fried tofu cubes tossed with sauce.

Provide a variety of dressings, including ranch, chipotle ranch, and blue cheese.
