Keeping Your Restaurant Busy

As a restaurant owner, there aren't many things more challenging than keeping a steady stream of customers coming in through the front door. Unfortunately, these kinds of challenges can eventually arrest the cash flow of your business, which can cause all kinds of problems in the long run. About three months ago, I decided that it would be a good idea to start focusing more on my own restaurant so that I could improve things. I started small, by changing the way that our team handled a few things, and then eventually worked towards reworking the entire menu. This blog is all about making your restaurant more profitable.

Asian Food Ideas For Special Events

Blog

When planning a special event, you may have a hard time narrowing down what type of food to serve your party goers. Since it's so varied, Asian cuisine is sure to please the majority of friends and family members on your guest list.

No matter what type of special occasion you're planning, such as a kids' or adults' birthday bash, a graduation celebration, an anniversary soiree, a class or family reunion, a holiday party a wedding reception, or a bridal or baby shower, you can't go wrong with serving Asian cuisine. From appetizers to main courses, you can design a menu that will appeal to guests of all ages, from children to adults.

Depending on your party-planning budget and available time, you can either hire a professional caterer or local Asian restaurant to do the cooking for you, or do it yourself in your own kitchen. If you decide to make your own lunch or dinner, use your favorite Asian eatery's menu as inspiration.

When putting the meal together, don't forget to take all of your guests' dietary concerns into consideration. With an Asian-inspired menu you won't have any problem providing at least a few meatless entrees for the vegans and vegetarians in the group, as tofu is a popular traditional ingredient.

Following are some Asian food special event menu ideas to get you started:

Appetizers

1. Ginger Salad

Start the meal off on a light-yet-delicious note with flavorful ginger salads. The Asian salads typically feature a mix of fresh vegetables, such as lettuce, matchstick carrots, and cucumbers, and are topped with a ginger-based dressing.

To make the dressing yourself, combine sesame oil, soy sauce, lemon juice, minced garlic, ginger, and salt and pepper to taste, and then pour over the vegetables. You can also add a small amount of honey to give the dressing a sweet and spicy flavor.

2. Spring Rolls

Healthy and filled with fresh ingredients, spring rolls are also popular Asian-inspired meal starters. Start by rolling up any type of vegetable, such as shredded carrots and cabbage, along with the meat of your choice, in rice paper. You can use cooked chicken, pork, or tofu if you prefer.

Serve the rolls with any type of dipping sauce, such as sweet and sour or peanut.

Main Courses

1. Fried Rice

To make sure all of your party goers get just what they like, you can set up a buffet-style table filled with several different types of fried rice, such as traditional chicken, shrimp, scallops and pineapple, and egg and vegetable for vegetarians. As another idea, set up electric wok stations and have guests make their own fried rice creations using a selection of ingredients.

2. Sushi

Sushi is another type of traditional Asian food that you can easily serve buffet-style. Have your favorite sushi restaurant or a caterer prepare a wide variety of rolls, and allow guests to fill their plates with their favorites. Don't forget soy sauce, pickled ginger, and wasabi as well.
